HIPPERN, Harold Reid - 82, Bedford, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 9, 2006, surrounded by his family in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Joseph and Phinina (Reid) Hippern. He spent his childhood in his beloved Heart's Delight, N.L. He joined the Royal Air Force, serving in England during the Second World War. He had a long career in the aviation industry as an aircraft mechanic with Allied Aviation, and manager with Airconsol having worked in Gander, Sydney and Halifax. He was a long-time member of All Saints Anglican Church in Bedford. Harold was a devoted and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Hiscock): sons, Dennis (Edie), Cole Harbour; Gordon (Sandy), Mahone Bay; Don (Norma), Bedford; Mike (Mary), Bedford; daughters, Janet Borja, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Dianne (Kent) Nickerson, Bedford, and brother, Rod (Gloria), Huron Park, Ont.; as well as 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Harold was predeceased by his sisters, Camilla Augot and Inez Powell, and his great-granddaughter, Emily Bing. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 1216 Bedford Highway. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford Highway. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to All Saints Anglican Church Memorial Fund or a charity of choice.
