We finally have pictures and comments about the Ontario mini reunion that was held in Barrie in September. There is too much information to be included on this page so we have a separate page for you to visit. Just click on the link above and read about all the fun we had.

Robert Pelley just spent a few days in Gander at the end of September, visiting his mother Mamie and father Calvin.  He brought along with him his son, Jean-François, and his grand-son, Fred (which is same name as Robert’s grand-father).  This gave Bob a chance to show them where he grew up, at least in as far as possible through the trees on the Army Side and the buildings on the Air Force side.  They even went cod jigging on Random Sound!
But best of all was the photo he got with the four generations. From left to right: Robert, Jean-François, Fred, Calvin.

Robert Pelley has been sort of thinking about getting a pilot's license so he went on a familiarization flight on 20 August in Cessna 172 Skyhawk.  He wanted to see primarily if his mobility problems would get in the way.

He says it was a very sunny day but that he was very lucky because it was extremely windy, gusting at times to about 35-40.  That meant a lot of turbulence, especially over the mountains north of Quebec. The advantage of that is that rather than thinking about the mechanics and physics of the flight, he had to keep compensating for the conditions which made for a more "natural" flight.

The pilot's license is possible but less likely because of the mobility problems. But he was very happy to have had the fun of being buffeted about over the lovely city of Quebec, so he says "mission accomplished" on that score.

Michal (Millar) Crowe has sent  me some travel stories that I would like posted on Out and About. They are from Angus Taylor and Liz Marshall. Just click on the links to read.

If anyone would like to tell us about their great adventures over the years, or a special adventure, we would love to hear about the trip.  It need not be a far away place, but a special trip that you will always remember, or even several stories if you like.  Send these stories to michal.crowe@ns.sympatico.ca, she will sent them up for the website and send them off to me.

For your enjoyment

It is CBC Hockeyville.  Port aux Basque made it to the top 5, and they need all the votes they can get to be the winner.

You can enter 10 times a day, or 20 times a day, up to you.

Here is the website:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hockeyville/?lang=en

You do not have to log in.  On the right side of the screen you will see the top five finalists, pluse one Wildcard.  Click on Port aux Basque.

The new page that comes up is for PaB, and on the right says VOTE NOW in a red square (well, it is rectangle), click there, then type in the word they put up, right now it is the word KRAFT, it changes often.  type that word in the spot indicated , don't need to put your email in the next box, just press VOTE NOW, again.  that's it.

Only 5 days to get this done.

Port aux Basque is in the to 10 finalists for the big prize. They need your vote. Click on this link and vote many times. http://www.cbc.ca/hockeyville/finalists/bruceiiarena . Click on the photo you see on the left.  Or I should say click on the line below the picture which will activate the movie part.  Once that is over, scroll over to the right and you will see VOTE.  Click on that.  You will be asked to type in a word they say, and once that is done, press enter.  Your vote may put them in the top 5.

Keep NL in the arena

"Our two website gurus, they're the best and keep us all connected".

Liz Marshall started the first Gander Reunion website and kept it going for us for the time leading up to the Reunion, and when that website had to  be closed, Jack Pinsent picked up the next website, to keep the Gander 2005 Reunion information available to anyone who wanted to check in.  Many thanks to these two former classmates and their efforts in updating information on the reunion website.
